Pet Dental Care & Teeth Cleaning

Pet Dental Care Dog Reading PA

Though often overlooked by pet owners, dental care is a very important part of your pet’s overall health. Dental disease is so pervasive that half of cats and nearly all dogs over the age of three require professional dental intervention and care. Pets that do not receive regular dental brushing and gum care can suffer from serious illnesses as bacteria from your pet’s mouth enters the bloodstream and damages the kidneys, heart, and liver.

Announcing Our New State-of-the-art Digital Dental X-Ray Machine

Conrad Weiser Animal Hospital has now expanded it’s dental suite and capabilities. Our new Digital Dental x-ray equipment allows us to:

  • View painful tooth and bone disease below the gum line, which is impossible to see without this equipment.
  • Single tooth structures are viewed immediately on a large screen computer, where the doctor can make quick oral health decisions.

Additionally, Dr. Mike and our certified technicians have taken extensive courses on advanced dental techniques. Schedule your pet’s dental appointment today to take advantage of our latest capabilities.

How Do You Know if My Dog’s Teeth Need a Professional Cleaning?

During your pet’s annual wellness exam, we will check his or her mouth and discuss recommendations for helping your pet maintain good oral hygiene. The time to schedule a routine cleaning is before there is a buildup of tartar or the development of gingivitis.

If your pet is in need of a thorough, in-office cleaning, we will use anesthesia to ensure your pet is safe and pain-free during the cleaning. Just as we would for any surgical procedure, we will take every step, including a thorough pre-surgery exam and blood work, to ensure the highest levels of safety during the procedure.

What Are the Warning Signs that My Pet Needs a Dental Checkup?

  • Yellow or discolored teeth
  • Loose teeth
  • Red, inflamed gums
  • Swollen mouth or jaws
  • Pain when eating
  • Doesn’t play with chew toys as often

Even in relatively mild climates like ours, the heat index can create dangerous circumstances for pets and people alike. The combination of rising temperatures, scorching UV rays, and suffocating humidity force many of us indoors where we can enjoy the hum of air conditioning all summer long.  Active dogs may not recognize the adverse effects […]

And while most of us are helpless against the overwhelming cute factor attached to kittens and puppies, there is truly nothing like […]
